Karen Ryer, amoureuse de la pierre
Karen Ryer a abandonné une carrière juridique longue de 30 ans dans le droit pour suivre sa muse.
Longtemps étudiante en sculpture, elle s’est essayée à bien des matières tels le bois, le métal, les « objets trouvés » avant de découvrir le travail de la pierre en 1999.
Depuis, elle n’a plus jamais croisé une roche qu’elle n’ait pas aimée. (La suite de sa bio en anglais est ici).

It is billions of years old.
It is a basic building block of civilization.
It is a visceral instinct to shape it.
It is beautiful, willful, cranky, and magic.
Those of us who carve it are in love with it, and cannot stop carving.
We are listeners to the earth,
and we carve because we must shape the sound of the earth, the feel, the color, the solidity,
the very life of rock.”
